Today is National Walking Day! Among living primates, humans are the only obligate bipeds. Our ancestors started walking upright by around 6 million years ago, and our lineage gradually evolved several features to make us great walkers. Locomotion went from occasional walking while still climbing trees until about 2 million years ago, when we start to see the features of adaptations to obligate bipedalism.
